Hvar in January: A Japanese Rock-Climbing Tourist!
I always thought Hvar was dead in January, but this Total Hvar project is making me reconsider, and I am in need of a rest. Just back from a wonderful week in Belgrade at the Days of Hvar Cuisine festival, I missed the Museum Night in Jelsa, Stari Grad and Hvar Town on Friday, and the invitations for events I had never heard of a month ago are coming in thick and fast. There is a lot going on on Hvar throughout the year, and the message that different types of tourism are available 12 months of the year will get out eventually.
Or maybe it already has, for today on the rocks above Milna, a young Japanese lady and English companion could be seen scaling the cliff face, under the expert tutelage of the island's premier activity specialists, Hvar Adventure.
Hvar Adventure, the same guys who were going to have a quiet winter, but ended up organising a sailing school for a week starting on Boxing Day. Hvar Adventure, who have 10-20% off all activities booked before March 1.
Of course, once you get together with Hvar Adventure, and they show you pictures of how to get the absolute best views of Hvar Town and the Pakleni Islands, namely by climbing up a sheer face (see below), then guess where our Japanese guest will be found tomorrow. Why not join them - give Hvar Adventure a call. Whether you want to hike, cycle, climb, kayak or sail, they are here all year and raring to go. Get a flavour of some of the activities on Hvar from the Hvar Tourist Board video below.
